University of Virginia Summer Research Internship Program

The University of Virginia School of Medicine offers summer research internship opportunities to qualified college undergraduates considering a career in biomedical research. The program targets, but is not limited to, racially and ethnically diverse students in their junior and senior years. Funds for living expenses, travel to and from Charlottesville, and housing are provided.
The program’s goals are to expose undergraduates to laboratory research and to familiarize them with the opportunities that exist for careers in biomedical research. Presentations and panel talks from our graduate students, along with free GRE tutorials, help SRIP interns successfully navigate the graduate school application process.

University of Kentucky Dept of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Kentucky is pleased to offer  undergraduate students an active 8-week summer research experience. Several projects are available in a wide range of areas within Electrical & Computer Engineering. Students will be exposed to faculty, graduate students, research staff, and other undergraduate students in a developing community that incorporates research activities with field trips, workshops, and other social activities.

University of Kentucky College of Engineering - REU

Summer research experiences for undergraduates

A multidisciplinary undergraduate summer REU program in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Sciences focusing on cell/protein interactions with materials and incorporation of these systems into devices.

University of Kentucky Dept of Chemistry REU

Each REU student will be required to participate in the full 10 week program of research and professional development. There will be optional weekend social activities.
 
Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents andmust have completed their sophomore, or preferably their junior year of a chemistry degree in an accredited four-year institution of

higher education with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Biomedical Engineering Summer Internship Program (BESIP)

The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) sponsors a Biomedical Engineering Summer Internship Program (BESIP) for undergraduate biomedical engineering students who have completed their junior year of college. This ten week program, from June 1 through August 7, 2009, allows rising senior biomedical engineering students to participate under the mentorship of world class scientists in cutting-edge biomedical research projects in NIH laboratories in Bethesda, Maryland. Please note: the BESIP is a separate program from the NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) in Biomedical Research.


Selected by a nationwide competition, the sixteen interns will have the opportunity to indicate preferences from a list of available NIH projects that involve areas of engineering or physical science expertise. The students will participate in group meetings, attend planned lectures and laboratory visits, and be encouraged to submit posters to the NIH Poster Day where summer interns from all disciplines present their projects.

WakeMed Rehad Summer Internship

The WakeMed Rehab Internship offers a 10-week paid program for students entering an Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or Speech Language Pathology program. The Internship program begins in May and runs through August of each year.

Physical Therapy Internship

This is for students enrolled in 4-year University. 

Interns should be currently enrolled in an accredited university program pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an exercise science related field or a pre-physical therapy specialization.

Interns should have basic core knowledge of exercise science content such as exercise physiology, anatomy and exercise prescription.

Summer Health Internship - Berkeley

For undergraduates considering careers in health, including healthcare management, health policy, community health, health education, nursing, and physical therapy.

Summer Medical and Dental Education Program

SMDEP is implemented at 12 program sites across the nation. Each program site provides scholars with academic enrichment in the basic sciences and math, clinical experiences, career development activities, learning and study skills seminars, and a financial planning workshop.
